Life is a journey.

Sometimes your life happens during a journey. So the journey becomes part of your life. For that is a journey well spent, being remembered as ‘that time’.

So my journey in life propelled onwards. Having completed 75% of the final exams, only one day would matter yet: The day of the presentation. So I prepared some slides, went through several feedback iterations with my dear coworkers and spent most of december circling around the idea of a perfect presentation of my project.

Besides some pleasant days with friends and family and all of Christmas’ joys, the task to come was nagging at me. But that didn’t mess with my plans. My plans to visit a dear friend. At that time she was an intern on an island in the Atlantic Ocean, west of Africa: Gran Canaria.

The premise was a mixed affair. Partly she had to work her shifts, partly I would work on my presentation, partly we would explore the island and set out to find wondrous places.

It was a journey to remember. Filled with beauty, celebration of life, friendship, sun and some unexpected experiences.

Did I mention I spent New Year’s Eve there? What a way to kick off 2019!

2019. A better week into it, the day came. The day I prepared for sitting on a balcony, looking at the Atlantic Ocean, hearing and smelling the unknown environment, going through my slides. Reading them to my friend, thinking about it every day there. In one morning it should show its payoff.

The presentation itself got the highest mark there is. Shaking hands with the teacher, walking out of the room, driving off, I realised: The time ‘after’ had begun.

Now I pursue other goals than an apprenticeship. What they are and where they lead I will tell you. As soon as I find out.
